Building Knowledge

Published by the RIBA and the University of Reading, Pathways to Post Occupancy Evaluation provides architects with the knowledge and inspiration they need to integrate project evaluation into everyday practice. The report is based on a set of case studies featuring architects who already use POE to understand and evidence the impact of their projects on a range of social and environmental outcomes including:

Social Impact: Maggie’s, Nottingham by CZWG
Organisational Efficiency: Morelands, London by AHMM
Improving User Experience: Lordship Eco-Hub, London by Anne Thorne Architects
A Learning Laboratory: Foundry Studios, London by Cullinan Studio
Learning Spaces: Wilkinson Primary School, Wolverhampton by Architype
Universal Evaluation: Sustainable Investment Policy by URBED

The report is available to download from the RIBA website here.

The practice is continuing to develop work in this area, and has recently published an open access article in the academic journal Building Research and Information that can be accessed here.
